Earth Day with artist Selva Ozelli at Havre de Grace Maritime Museum

"Earth Day" globally celebrated on April 22.

"Earth Day" globally celebrated on April 22, is a day to honor the Earth that was first proposed in 1969 at a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Conference in San Francisco. This year with a theme of "Planet vs. Plastics" a wide range of events are coordinated  by Earthday.org in more than 193 countries, to demonstrate support for environmental protection from plastic pollution. Because over 400 million tons of plastic are produced every year for use in a wide variety of applications.

As s part of  Earth Day Events, the HEALING WATERS 2 ART SHOW by Selva Ozelli will  launch ahead of Earth Day on April 20th at Havre de Grace Maritime Museum with a talk by the artist. The exhibition seeks to stimulate ocean science and knowledge generation to reverse the decline of the state of the ocean system and catalyze new opportunities for sustainable development of this massive marine ecosystem and deliver science-based solutions to achieve the 2030 Agenda.

The Healing Waters 2 Art Show launch will take place ahead of Earth Day:

Date: Monday April 20, 2024
Location: Havre de Grace Maritime Museum 100 Lafayette Street, Havre de Grace, MD 21078

Artist Selva Ozelli (https://www.earthday.org/?s=selva+ozelli) who joins Havre de Grace Maritime Museum said "At least 14 million tons of plastic end up in the oceans every year, and plastic makes up 80% of all marine debris found from surface waters to deep-sea sediments. With my art show 'Healing Waters 2 which will launch ahed of Earth Day at Havre de Grace Maritime Museum, I hope to draw attention to the fact that restoring wetlands and oceans including from plastic pollution is gathering momentum around the world. My Healing Waters 1 will be on exhibit at UNESCO OCEAN DECADE TIDES OF CHANGE WAVES OF HOPE in New York City parallel to my Healing Waters 2 art show."

We are pleased to host award winning artist Selva Ozelli with three new art shows including her show titled "Healing Waters 2," which opens on April 20th. Ms. Ozelli's work is cataloged by the United Nations, Tokyo Metropolitan Museum and the Berlin University of Art as part of the project titled Climate Summit Art and Political Event, 1972 – 2022.
