Tony has studied impacts of plastic pollution for nearly 30 years.
Invited by the Deputy Minister of ECCC to participate in a Leaders and Experts Roundtable on Plastics and Marine Litter to help develop the Ocean Plastics Charter for Canada’s 2018 G7 presidency.
Participated in the Canadian Science Symposium on Plastics to inform Canada’s Plastic Science Agenda (CaPSA). Represented Canada at the G7 Science Meeting on Plastic Pollution in Paris, France.
Significant publications: Two papers describing policies to reduce plastic pollution are listed in the topmost downloaded papers in Marine Pollution Bulletin.
Awards and honours: 2019 Teaching Excellence Award, recipient (2016 and 2017) of the Rising Research Star Award, Dalhousie University. 2018 Dalhousie President's Excellence Research Award, Emerging Scholar.  "
